Miami – The Florida AFL-CIO, which represents over a million union members, retirees, and their family members and has fought for decades to create better conditions for workers in the state, has endorsed Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in the race for Florida’s 26th Congressional District.
“South Florida workers need a new leader who will fight to fix an economy that has been rigged for the wealthy, and to put the issues that affect workers everyday first,” said Jeffrey Mitchell, President of the South Florida AFL-CIO. “Debbie understands that workers need access to more affordable healthcare, good paying jobs and a fully funded public education system. South Florida’s union members are ready to take that message to their union halls and the ballot box this November.”
“We need to make our economy work for everyone, and that starts by supporting the workers who have built our state and made our country what it is today,” said Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. “I’m incredibly grateful to the Florida AFL-CIO for their support and I proudly commit to standing up for workers’ rights in Washington.”
